Characterizing the Gut Microbial Metabolic Profile of Mice with the Administration of Berry-Derived Cyanidin-3-Glucoside

Dietary modulation of the gut microbiota has recently received considerable attention. It is well established that consumption berries confers a number health benefits. We previously reported black raspberry (BRB)-rich diet effectively modulates microbiota. Given role anthocyanins in benefits berries, coupled with interactions microbial metabolites host health, objective this follow-up study was to further characterize profile functional microbiome modulated by anthocyanins. utilized berry-derived classic anthocyanin, cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G), combined mouse model probe C3G-associated metabolic products bacteria through mass spectrometry-based metabolomic profiling technique. Results showed C3G substantially changed mice, including its composition and profile. A distinct addition variety key microbiota-related observed C3G-treated mice. Microbial involved protein digestion absorption were differently abundant between control which may be linked effects berry consumption. present suggest involvement C3G, providing evidence connecting beneficial effects.
